Inspired by Bertie, the circa 1938 Dean’s bear formerly in our museum in Witney, Basil is made of dark caramel mohair with amber and black safety eyes and faux suede paw pads. This bear, number 649 of the edition , has no certificate but is in excellent condition with sewn-in labels, showing his name and edition number – see photo.
