Summer is one in a series of four seasons, inspired by the illustrations of Austrian artist, Ida Bohatta, whose children's books were popular in the early 1900s. This set comprises Heinzel with his wooden rake, his fieldmouse companion, and a basket full of ears of wheat. Both pieces are made of felt and are jointed at the neck and shoulders. Heinzel has a white beard and eye brows, and wears a felt hat, a poplin shirt with a leather belt and felt slippers; the field mouse has long horse hair whiskers and a long, realistic tail. They come with a certificate in a display box decorated with an atmospheric Ida Bohatta illustration. A work of exceptional charm and quality. This set (number 43) is our last one.
