The famous theoretical physicist is best known for developing the theory of relativity. Margarete Steiff GmbH are proud to have had such a legendary neighbour, born in Ulm, 44 km from Steiff's hometown, on 14 March 1879.
In a gesture of playfulness, the unconventional free spirit once stuck his tongue out at his pursuers – a moment captured by photographer Arthur Sasse. The picture quickly circulated around the world, becoming an iconic image. This moment is celebrated by Steiff with Einstein’s Famous Formula: E=mc² embroidered on the bear's foot pad.
