Anna made this amusing creation for a recent exhibition in Haarlem, celebrating the 100th anniversary of Marilyn Monroe’s birth.
Now available, she is inspired by the iconic photograph taken over a grating during the filming of The Seven Year Itch in 1954.
Made of distressed, pale pink mohair with caramel-blond mohair hair, Marilyn has vintage shoe button eyes, a waxed thread nose, a red thread mouth, facial shading, wired arms and felt paw pads. She wears cotton pants under her windswept, silk dress. She is presented in a wine box, which Anna has decorated (complete with metal grating on the floor) to evoke the well-known 70-year-old photo. She is filled with a mixture of wood shavings, polyester fibre and tiny mineral stones.
