Heritage Collection Greyfriars Bobby by Merrythought

£169.00

Merrythought's original Greyfriars Bobby was inspired by Eleanor Atkinson’s novel, ‘Greyfriars Bobby’, which told the story of a loyal Skye Terrier and his devotion to his owner, John Gray, who passed away on 15 February 1858. Until his own passing many years later, Bobby slept on his master’s grave in Greyfriars churchyard.

This soft toy featured on the first page of Merrythought's inaugural (1931) catalogue.

Greyfriars Bobby has now returned - nearly a century later. Jointed at the neck, he is made of long, wavy and vintage-looking, brown-tipped caramel mohair with black button eyes and a realistic, moulded nose. Like the original Bobby, he wears a Royal Stewart tartan neck ribbon.

As with others in Merrythought’s Heritage Collection, Greyfriars Bobby features an authentic replica of the company's earliest ‘hygienic toys’ label, and is individually numbered as a Special Edition. He comes with a pure cotton dust bag and a Certificate of Authenticity.

WARNING! This product is not a toy and is intended for adult collectors only.
