In Japanese, ‘Mike’ means ‘calico cat’.
Still small but slightly larger than Akemi’s usual work, this lovely, beckoning cat is made of sensitively aged, white alpaca with painted brown and black markings, pink inner ears, two-tone glass eyes, thread whiskers, stitched claws and hand-painted paw pads. Mike wears a traditional, Japanese pattern bib and comes on a soft cushion with cherry blossom decoration. Mike is filled with a mixture of synthetic cotton and stainless steel beads.
