Steiff ‘Mask Face’ Bear, circa 1968-1975

£125.00

Known as ‘Valentine’ by his former owner, this unusually large bear is made of wavy, long pile, blond mohair, with brown and black plastic eyes. Some of the pile of his velveteen paw pads has worn away and there are 3 very small holes in his right foot pad, as well as a stitched repair on the top seam of his left ankle (see photos). His mohair is all in very good condition. Traditionally filled with wood shavings, he has his button in ear and (slightly worn) ear tag. Steiff bears such as this one are colloquially know as ‘mask face’ bears due to their heart-shaped short mohair, mask-like faces.  (If bought by someone outside the UK there will be a GBP125 surcharge towards the airmail cost.)
