A sparrow with a strand of straw in its beak is the symbol of Ulm, a city about 40km from Giengen, Steiff’s home town. This small Steiff sparrow is made of textured off-white and black wool with black glass eyes, a felt tail, and metal legs and feet. He has a strand of straw in his felt beak. No button but in very good condition attached to Ulm stand.
